Occupational Therapy
Occupational therapy (OT) is an allied health profession that involves the therapeutic use of everyday activities, or occupations, to treat the physical, mental, developmental, and emotional ailments that impact a patient’s ability to perform day-to-day tasks.
Autism Tutoring
The goal for successful autism tutoring is to empower students to build learning and study habits for not just school but for lifelong learning by improving not only academic abilities but also social abilities and the desire to learn and progress.
Special Education Needs Classes
Special Education Needs (SEN) is a legal term to define the needs of a child who has a difficulty or disability which makes learning harder for them than for other children their age, and requires special education provision to be made for him or her.
Shadow Teacher
A shadow teacher is an individual who provides one on one support to special needs students to help in the development of their academic, social, and behavioral skills. He or she assists the student to better perform at some or all the activities throughout the school day
Speech Therapy
Speech therapy is the assessment and treatment of communication problems and speech disorders. It is performed by speech-language pathologists (SLPs), which are often referred to as speech therapists.
ABA Therapy
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a therapy based on the science of learning and behavior. ABA therapy applies our understanding of how behavior works to real situations. The goal is to increase behaviors that are helpful and decrease behaviors that are harmful or affect learning.
The physical benefits of therapy
Physical therapy can be an invaluable tool for children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). It helps ease physical and sensory issues associated with ASD, like difficulty with coordination, balance, muscle strength, and sensory processing. Few benefits are as follow;
Social skills
Ones who participated in physical activity programs designed for individuals with autism showed significant gains in their social and communication skills.
Fitness
Youth on the spectrum significantly improved their muscular strength and endurance by participating in different programs involving activities. Strength and endurance are important for not only physical health, but also for taking advantage of social opportunities that involve physical activity including recreational sports and non-structured games.
Skill-related fitness
Many individuals with autism have lower fitness skills compared to other people. These skills include balance, body coordination, visual-motor control and other mobility skills. Here again, we were encouraged to find that many types of physical activities improve skill-related fitness for youth with autism. These activities included computer-based exergaming, jumping on a trampoline (with supervision and safety barriers), motor skill training (e.g. table tennis)
Motor skills
Many kinds of physical activities – and the social opportunities they afford – require what we call “fundamental motor skills.” These basic skills include running, throwing, catching and so on. Again, our analysis showed that exercise programs significantly improved these skills among youth with autism.
we need to understand how to promote lifetime physical activity for people who have autism. The benefits appear to be tremendous. The good news is We have the strategies to help!
