Our History

The Journey of AOT!

AOT, founded in 2021, works with the best team to target sensory integration needs and transform a child's future.

AOT began in 2021 to address the growing need for specialized therapy for children with autism and sensory integration issues in Pakistan. With 88% of children facing sensory challenges, we assembled a dedicated team of certified therapists and specialists to offer personalized, evidence-based care. Today, AOT is a leader in sensory-based therapy, helping children overcome obstacles and achieve their highest potential.

A Story of Innovation and Impact

In 2021, the idea of Ask an Occupational Therapist (AOT) was born out of a critical need in our region. In KPK and the federal areas of Pakistan, there was a severe lack of sensory integration therapy and evidence-based approaches, especially when it came to working with children with autism. A staggering 88% of the population in these areas struggled with sensory integration issues, and there was a desperate need for certified sensory integration therapists to address these challenges. This gap in services led to the creation of AOT, where we saw an opportunity to make a meaningful difference.

I came up with the idea of combining the expertise of a certified sensory integration therapist with a dedicated team of professionals, including behavior therapists trained in IBT (Intensive Behavioral Therapy)Speech-Language Pathologists (SLP), and shadow teachers who would work within our School Readiness Program. Alongside this, remedial therapists were brought in to specifically focus on improving social behaviors, academic skills, and cognitive functioning. This multi-disciplinary approach allowed us to provide holistic care, specifically designed to tackle the complexities of sensory issues that so many of our children faced.

From the moment we began, the response was overwhelmingly positive. Across Pakistan, we began to see success stories emerging. Families and children benefited from our innovative approach, and soon, we were attracting clients from all over the country. One of our proudest accomplishments was working with children who had been non-verbal. Through intensive therapies, particularly focusing on sensory integration, these children began showing remarkable speech results in a very short time. It was clear that addressing their sensory issues was key to unlocking their potential.

Today, AOT is recognized as a leading sensory-based center in Pakistan, one of the few that focuses exclusively on the sensory-based approach to therapy. Our commitment to continuously improving is reflected in our dedication to Continuous Medical Education (CME). We ensure that our staff remains up-to-date with the latest knowledge and research, so they can always provide the most effective, evidence-based practices for the children we serve.

AOT has become a beacon of hope for families dealing with autism and other developmental challenges. Through our unique, holistic approach and commitment to professional development, we continue to make a profound impact on the lives of children and their families across Pakistan.
